Keirsey Temperament Groups
David Keirsey organized the sixteen Myers-Briggs types into four overarching temperaments based on observable communication and action habits. Each temperament unites four types around a shared core drive:
Rationals (NT) · The Strategic Temperament
Driven by systemic mastery, conceptual models, and long-range strategy. They prize competence and question conventional procedures.
INTJ · INTP · ENTJ · ENTPIdealists (NF) · The Diplomatic Temperament
Driven by authenticity, human potential, and meaningful connection. They seek personal growth and listen for unvoiced aspirations.
INFJ · INFP · ENFJ · ENFPGuardians (SJ) · The Logistical Temperament
Driven by duty, reliability, and institutional continuity. They safeguard established procedures and ensure commitments are kept.
ISTJ · ISFJ · ESTJ · ESFJArtisans (SP) · The Tactical Temperament
